Easy Hot and Cool Salsa Tater Tots
A close cousin of tater tot nachos (aka totchos), this presentation is even simpler. Baked tots are simply tossed with salsa, avocado, jalapeño, and cilantro. It’s a fun and festive appetizer that couldn’t be easier to make.
Ingredients
- 4 heaping cup tater tots (your favorite brand)
- 1 cup fresh refrigerated or homemade salsa (see options in Notes), plus more to pass around
- 1 medium firm, ripe avocado, pitted, peeled, and diced
- 1 jalapeño, most seeds removed, and sliced (or use a poblano pepper as a milder option)
- 1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh cilantro
- Vegan sour cream for topping, optional
Instructions
- Bake or air fry the tater tots according to package directions.
- Once done, combine the tots with 1 cup of salsa along with the avocado, jalapeño, and cilantro in a mixing bowl and toss together gently.
- Transfer the mixture to an attractive shallow serving container.
- Serve warm. Everyone scoops a portion onto small plates. Pass around extra salsa and the optional vegan sour cream to top individual portions.
