Here are 5 easy, tasty recipes for using Improved Nature®, a soy-based plant protein that’s economical and versatile.Improved Nature products come dehydrated, so they’re shelf-stable and store compactly in a cool, dry place.
This product has exactly one ingredient — soy protein — and cooks up to a meaty texture that omnivores, especially, will appreciate. To rehydrate, simply simmer in water or broth for about 20 minutes, depending on which product.
See more about Improved Nature® products, which are economical, high protein, and contain almost no sodium — a departure from many other plant-based meat alternatives that are often loaded with it. From the company’s website:
“At Improved Nature, we are on a mission to feed the growing population with better protein. We provide nutritious, non-GMO, 100% plant-based protein that replicates the experience of eating meat, while being more sustainable and scalable.
Our Nature’s PRIME plant-based protein is the simplest and cleanest plant-powered meat alternative on the market. Made from ONLY 1 INGREDIENT, and minimally processed, Nature’s PRIME is a complete protein with meat-like texture and neutral flavor that can easily replace chicken, beef, or pork. And with a 2-year shelf-life, it’s the protein you can count on for any menu item or meal, any day of the week. 1 lb of Nature’s PRIME yields ~5 lb of plant based meat alternative after boiling!”
Improved Nature’s products come in an array of shapes, from tiny mini-bits to filets, and I had an opportunity to try out a few of them. It was great fun experimenting with the products, and with their neutral flavor and pleasantly chewy texture, it’s hard to go wrong, and easy to be creative!
As you’ll see in the following recipes for using Improved Nature, I found it most useful as a chicken alternative, but as mentioned above, you can swap it in for just about anything. Full disclosure — I was sent Improved Nature’s products to sample, but this is NOT a sponsored post. Opinions are my own.
Vegan Chick’n & Wild Rice Soup
This recipe converts the American classic chicken and wild rice soup into an easy vegan version. Using plant-based chicken in tandem with vegetables and chewy wild rice results in a comforting mild soup.
Vegan Chopped Chick’n Salad
There’s absolutely no reason to use actual bird to make the classic chopped chicken salad. Making it a vegan chick’n salad is the kinder way to go! For this batch, I used Improved Nature Prime Slices and gave them a really fine chop.
Vegan “Chicken-Fried” Plant Protein
Vegan “chicken fried” plant protein slims down and simplifies a classic (greasy) recipe. Serve with your favorite vegan gravy or condiment. For this batch, I used Improved Nature Prime Filets, which are a perfect shape! They’re made with one ingredient only — soy. Nothing added, not even salt. Once pre-cooked, they have the ideal texture — firm and chewy — for this preparation.
Cheesy Vegan Chick’n & Broccoli Skillet
A mild, comforting dish that never fails to please, this vegan chick’n and broccoli skillet is on the table in no time. I’ve made this flexible dish with a number of plant proteins; this time around, I used Improved Nature Prime Slices.
